Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning in Orlando, FL | Hadley Chimney Orlando
Hadley Chimney Orlando provides independent DuraFlex chimney cleaning and liner service across Orlando, from Delaney Park bungalows to Lake Nona new builds. The thing that makes our DuraFlex work here different: we schedule around Orlando’s March – October chimney swift nesting season and clean liners that have sat in 90% humidity for months at a time, not the dry-burn creosote you’d find up north. If you have a DuraFlex liner that’s pulling poorly or smells musty, call us at (904) 822-8172 and we’ll put eyes on it.
We’re not manufacturer-affiliated or an authorized DuraFlex dealer. We’re an independent service company that works on DuraFlex systems every week and carries OEM connectors, top plates, and rain caps because aftermarket parts often don’t seat right on the corrugated profile. That matters when you want the job done once.
Why Orlando Residents Choose Us for DuraFlex Service
Cory Mitchell leads our Orlando crew. He grew up in Los Angeles, picked up the trade fundamentals at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and spent years working chimneys across Southern California before bringing that experience to Central Florida. He’s done sweeps and liner inspections on homes everywhere from the historic bungalows in Delaney Park to newer builds closer to Lake Nona. With well over a decade focused specifically on chimney cleaning and safety work, Cory is known for showing customers exactly what he finds before writing an estimate. As he puts it: “I’d rather text you the photo and let you decide than talk you into something you can’t see for yourself.”
That’s the way the whole crew works. We know DuraFlex liners intimately, the 316L stainless and aluminum profiles, the oval-to-round adapters, the flex pull tools specific to DuraFlex’s corrugation. We also know what Orlando’s climate does to them. Every job includes a written price before work starts, a written guarantee on every repair, and a free second visit if any repair fails. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s standing policy, not a promotion.
We also run on The Relay Visibility Guarantee as part of the Relay Home Co. family. Live arrival tracking, before-and-after photo documentation, and digital invoicing on every visit. Calls are answered by a live person 24/7, and every technician is background-checked and uniformed. You’ll know who’s coming and when, and you’ll see photos of what we found.

Common DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning Problems We Solve in Orlando
- Hardened creosote glaze on the corrugated inner wall. Orlando homeowners often burn only a handful of fires each year. That sounds like it should mean less buildup, but it actually means the creosote from each fire cools, hardens, and bonds to the liner’s corrugated profile instead of flaking off with regular use. Standard rod-and-brush cleaning won’t touch it. We use chemical glaze removers and low-speed chain knockers to break it free without scoring the 316L steel.
- Corrosion at the bottom connector joint. Hot, humid air rises into the chimney and condenses against the tee body where it meets the liner. In Orlando’s subtropical climate, that condensation sits there for months. We regularly find rust-through at this joint, which causes draft loss and lets moisture drip back into the firebox. If it’s caught early, an OEM DuraFlex tee replacement fixes it. If it’s rusted through the liner wall, you need a new liner.
- Chimney swift nesting material wedged between the liner and old flue tiles. Orlando has the highest density of protected chimney swifts in the Southeast during their March – October nesting season. They get past a missing or damaged cap and build between the DuraFlex liner and the original masonry flue. The nest blocks airflow and traps moisture against the liner wall, which accelerates corrosion. We remove the material carefully, within federal guidelines, and install a custom cap with bird screening sized to preserve draft.
- Ovalized liner from improper original install. We see this often in Orlando’s 1970s – 90s homes where a DuraFlex liner was pulled without proper support. The liner stretches into an oval shape at a bend, creating a hidden shelf where creosote accumulates. Under the high-draft conditions of a cold front, that shelf can ignite. Our camera inspection finds it before it’s a problem. Sometimes the liner can be re-rounded; sometimes replacement is the honest answer.
- Musty summer odor from trapped humidity. Even when the fireplace sits unused all summer, Orlando’s humidity finds its way in. A DuraFlex liner with creosote residue absorbs that moisture and the whole chimney smells like a damp campfire. The fix is a proper cleaning to remove the creosote, then addressing ventilation and possibly waterproofing the masonry exterior so moisture stays out of the system entirely.
DuraFlex Service in Orlando: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s something a generic DuraFlex manual will never tell you. Orlando has the highest density of protected chimney swifts in the Southeast, and their nesting season runs March through October. That’s the exact window when most Orlando homeowners are done with fires for the season and think about getting a cleaning scheduled. Federal law protects chimney swifts during nesting, which means we have to time cleanings around roosting bans and, in many cases, install caps and bird screens that keep the swifts out without choking the DuraFlex liner’s draft. A cap that’s too restrictive creates backdraft and pushes carbon monoxide into the home. A cap that’s too open lets the birds in and you’re back to square one. We size multi-flue caps specifically to the liner’s draft requirements, not just whatever cap fits the flue tile.
Combine that with Orlando’s humidity and you get a second issue: creosote from occasional fires hardens into a glaze that standard brushes won’t remove. In a drier climate, that same creosote might stay flaky and brush out easily. Here, it bonds to the corrugated DuraFlex wall after only a half-dozen burns. Our crew was called to a 1980s brick rancher in the Conway neighborhood off Hoffner Avenue for a smoky fireplace. Inside, we found a DuraFlex 316L liner so coated with hardened creosote that a drill-powered whip wouldn’t bite. We removed the tee, used a chemical glaze remover and a chain knocker on low speed, then installed a new DuraFlex rain cap with a bird screen. The homeowner lit a test fire that afternoon and the draft pulled clean. That’s a Conway problem, not a Cleveland problem, and it changes how we clean here.
DuraFlex Models & Products We Service in Orlando
We service the full range of DuraFlex residential liners and components, including the DuraFlex 316L Flexible Chimney Liner, DuraFlex Aluminum Liner, DuraFlex Pro, and the DuraFlex SS Master Kit system. When a liner is salvageable, we use OEM DuraFlex connectors, top plates, and rain caps. Aftermarket parts often don’t seat correctly on the corrugated profile and leak at the top, so we don’t use them. We stock the most common OEM connectors and caps locally, which means faster turnaround on our Chimney Repair in Orlando. If the liner has rust-through at the tee or multiple kinks, we’ll tell you straight: a new DuraFlex liner is cheaper than chasing leaks for another season.

FAQs – DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning in Orlando
Yes, we clean liners that have sat idle for years, and a rusted damper plate doesn’t stop the job, it just means the damper needs replaced while we’re in there. In Orlando’s humidity, two years of disuse usually means hardened creosote and possibly surface rust on the liner wall. We’ll start with a camera inspection to assess the liner’s condition, then use chemical glaze remover if standard brushing won’t bite. The damper is a separate repair, and we’ll quote it in writing before we touch anything. Call (904) 822-8172 for a free estimate and we’ll tell you exactly what the camera shows.
That smell is creosote residue inside the liner absorbing Orlando’s summer humidity. Even occasional fires leave a thin creosote film on the corrugated wall, and when humidity sits at 90% for weeks, that film gets damp and the whole chimney smells like a wet campfire. A proper DuraFlex cleaning removes the creosote so there’s nothing left to absorb moisture. We’ll also check whether water is getting in through a failed cap or cracked crown, because moisture from outside makes the problem worse. Call us at (904) 822-8172 and we’ll find the source, not just mask the smell.
Often, yes. On many Orlando chimneys, the cap restricts access from the top, and removing it lets us get the right brush or chain knocker down the full liner length. We also inspect the cap while it’s off, because a worn or missing cap is how chimney swifts and rain get into the system in the first place. If the cap is still good, we’ll reinstall it. If it’s not, we’ll quote an OEM DuraFlex replacement with a properly sized bird screen and install it same visit.
It depends on how long the nest sat against the liner wall and whether moisture was trapped long enough to start corrosion. We’ve saved plenty of liners where the nest was removed promptly and the liner cleaned thoroughly. But if the nest sat through a full Orlando summer humid season, there’s a real chance the trapped moisture began corroding the stainless. We’ll run a camera down the full liner and show you exactly what we see. If it’s surface-only, a cleaning and a new cap with bird screening solves it. If there’s rust-through or pitting, replacement is the honest call. Call (904) 822-8172 for a free inspection.
Once a year is the right cadence in Orlando, even with light use. Each of those 10 fires leaves creosote that hardens into glaze in our humidity, and a glaze layer is exactly what’s hardest to remove if you wait two or three years. Annual cleaning keeps the liner wall smooth and prevents the hardened shelf that becomes a fire risk. It also gives us a chance to check the cap, the flashing, and the damper before small problems turn into liner replacement. Call (904) 822-8172 and we’ll get you on the schedule while you’re thinking about it.
